A Note from Pastor Aaron:
Welcome! It is an honor to have the opportunity to share from my heart the whole purpose of why we do what we do at element Youth!
The simple answer is this - we're here to connect students into a loving and growing relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. In a world where students find themselves with so many venues to establish an identity, it is becoming more clear there is only one route that will bring true and eternal fulfillment - and that route is Jesus Christ and the price He paid for each and everyone of us.
Every day, more and more young people are trying to find true and authentic wholeness with empty things. The simple truth is that in order to fill a glass to the brim, you must pour from a source that has something in it to draw from. Yet when these students pursue sex, alcohol, popularity, drugs, fashion, money, success, they are empty, and find themselves not satisfied and always digging deeper and deeper until they hit rock bottom with no hope and no idea where to go!
When the opposite happens and students begin to pursue God through Jesus Christ, they find true fulfillment. And with that pursuit God brings provision, satisfaction, and worth. No longer do students define themselves by what they do; rather, by who God has created them to be. When we know who we are, we know what we want. And when we know what we want, everything else is undesirable. The Bible says in Proverbs 29:18 - "Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained." It is not justifying a free lifestyle - rather, explaining that without a focus, without a purpose, without Vision - people have no direction, they are not focused and swerve freely from lane to lane on the Highway of Life. Yet, with proper vision, our lives are focused and we head in one direction.
The reason element exists is to present the truth and nothing but the truth to a young and hungry generation - hungry for authentic Truth, and that Truth is Jesus Christ. There are no substitutes - even though many claim to have one. Jesus Himself makes it clear there is but one way to God and that is through Jesus! (See John 14:6)
Below you will find a brief synopsis of what element is and what you can expect to see during a typical Wednesday Night Service! Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to meet you!
-Pastor Aaron Denn
What is element Youth Church?
It is a gathering of students, ranging from grades 6th to 12th, meeting on Wednesday nights at 7 pm to passionately seek the God who Created the Heavens and the Earth. During a regular Wednesday Night Service, there is a student-led worship set, followed by an ice-breaker game or activity, prayer, and a challenging and relevant message from the Word of God!
It is a strategically designed service with one focus - to connect students in a deeper walk with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. We achieve this through a regular message centered on the teachings of the Bible as well as a student contemporary worship time.
What should I know before coming to a Wednesday Night Service?
First off, it would be our privilege if you would join us for a Wednesday Night Service! Our hope is that you would feel comfortable and part of the "family" from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave! The following items are things you can expect to happen during the service:
- Prior to the start of service you will find students hanging out in one of several locations -
- The Main Sanctuary - this is where service will take place, yet you will always find students hanging out, talking and laughing at the tables located on the back wall and even in the chairs set up for service.
- The Game Room - this is located through the door on the far side of the sanctuary kiddy-corner across the hallway. In this game room, you will find more students hanging out and playing video game (Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, & Xbox 360) as well as either Fooseball or Air Hockey.
- During the "Good Months" of Spokane (i.e. the Spring and Summer), you will also find students out in the parking lot throwing a frisbee or football around and just enjoying the weather.
- The entrance to element is underneath the awning on the East Side of the building.
- Although we encourage active participation in all aspects of the service (worship, responding to the Word, activities), we do not require you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. If there is a question about something that is happening during the service, Pastor Aaron is more than willing to dialogue after Service. We simply ask that you wait until an appropriate time after service to discuss them. Thank You for your understanding with this.
- Overall, you can expect to come and have a great time and connect with fellow students who desire to grow closer to God through His Son Jesus Christ!
