Traveling Light with the Spirit! - Part 1

Saturday, 16 January 2010

Speaker Name:  Steve Williams
Series:  Baggage
Description:
The ‘Bell Hops’ of life regularly attempt to place/gift/force/pressure or otherwise impose baggage on us! Like water around a submarine; there is constant pressure upon us. We do not have the continuous hull strength on our own. But with God’s grace comes the accompanying presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are the commodities and tools we need to resist the work of the enemy to sink us under a barrage of baggage.

What’s In Your Baggage?

Saturday, 09 January 2010

Speaker Name:  Steve Williams
Series:  Baggage
Description:
Life is often unfair, even cruel, in what and how we experience it. Along the way we have options,...choices to be made about whether we will pick-up the baggage we are offered or whether we will acknowledge it, but then leave it. Most of us pick-up and keep way too much! It‘s this collection of baggage that makes us vulnerable and spiritually unhealthy. So how can we avoid and even shed these dark lenses of life! Well,… let’s see!

Saturday, 26 December 2009

Speaker Name:  Steve Williams   |  Matthew 2:1-12
Series:  Advent
Description:
Interruptions are a virtual way of life! We have all experienced them and have all been one at some point!?!? Some are forgettable while some are plain annoying. Our current economic climate is a macro version while an unexpected pregnancy might be considered the micro version. But what do we call it when God calls in, when He chooses to make His presence known? Well He has and now a word from our Creator!

Philemon Part 4

Saturday, 14 November 2009

Speaker Name:  Travis Cox   |  Philemon 1
Series:  Philemon
Description:
The longer I live the more I see classic relational plots, that I was only previously aware of via classical literature, in actual real-time circumstances. I’ve now lived long enough to know people who have tried to run from God like Jonah did, (no whales however!), I know people who have suffered unjust persecution like Paul and people who have been thru the furnace of character reconstruction like Joseph. But the one I’ve seen more often than any other, and have been more influenced by are the many people I have seen go thru a ‘Prodigal Son’ experience. I think this is the same posture and circumstance Paul is in with Onesimus and Philemon. He had heard of such events but to have one so beautifully and clearly orchestrated by the Holy Spirit on his front porch must have been a thrill and certainly he seized the opportunity!

Philemon Part 2

Saturday, 31 October 2009

Speaker Name:  Steve Williams   |  Philemon 1
Series:  Philemon
Description:
The Book of Philemon was written somewhere between 59-61 AD by Paul while he was still under house arrest. He was writing to a Christian slave owner by the name of Philemon who lived in the Lycus Valley of Asia Minor. Paul is writing to Philemon asking that the converted slave of his, Onesimus, be taken back into the household without punishment and as a brother in Christ, at the bare minimum...and maybe, just maybe, Onesimus could be loaned to Paul or even granted his freedom that he may help Paul in advancing the Gospel.
