History & Theology

Maybe the two shouldn't go hand in hand but they do.  Of course centuries ago there was only one church,...the 'universal' church,...the Catholic Church. It wasn't until Martin Luther nailed his 95 grievances on the cathedral door of Wittenberg Germany in protest that the 'Protestant Movement' was born and a new and dynamic branch of Christendom was added.

At the turn of the last century another great awakening stirred and led many former main stream church members into greater depths of faith, including a renewed awareness of, sensitivity to and application of the biblical spiritual gifts!  As in the NT church, there was a need to channel the new spiritual fervor of this time into some real and tangible expressions. For many churches and believers that expression was a calling to overseas missions work and a strong urgency to reach those around them with the good news that Jesus Christ died for them!

Many recognized the value of networking their efforts together, especially as it pertained to missions. In 1914 a gathering of churches and pastors was called for Hot Springs, Arkansas to discuss what might be done toward these ends without creating another 'denomination'.  After many weeks of prayer and discussion  the Assemblies of God was formed and God has since blessed those decisions tremendously.

Spiritual Help: How To Have A Relationship with God!

Jesus Christ is the good news we've put our life & trust in.

Did you know...?
  • God Loves you and has a plan for your life.
  • A father-child relationship with you. Ephesians 1:5 In love He chooses to adopt us as His sons through Jesus Christ.
  • A full and meaningful life. John 10:10 (Jesus speaking) ... I came so you might have life more abundantly.
  • Eternal Life. 1 John 5:12 He who has the Son has eternal life.
  • Sin keeps us from experiencing God's love and plan.
(Sin is any action, thought, or attitude which displeases God).
    • According to the Bible, all have sinned. Romans 6:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
    • All deserve judgment. Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death.
  • Jesus Christ received judgment in our place.
    • Jesus was and is God. Philippians 2:6 Who is very nature is God...
    • Became a man. Philippians 2:7 Being made like a man...
    • Born of a virgin. Matthew 1:23 A virgin will give birth to a son...
    • Lived a sinless life. Hebrews 4:15 He was tempted yet did not sin.
    • Died in our place. Isaiah 53:4 We are the ones who strayed, yet God laid on Him the guilt and sins of each one of us.
    • Rose from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:3 Christ died for our sins, was buried, and raised from the dead.
    • Is God's only provision for our forgiveness. John 14:6 (Jesus speaking) No one comes to the Father except through me.
  • A decision to trust in Jesus Christ is required.
    • Trust Him to forgive your sins. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He will forgive us our sins.
    • Trust Him to give you the power to change. Philippians 2:13 God works within you, helping you want to obey Him, and helping you do what He wants.
    • Trust Him to direct your life. Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord (leader, boss, master) of your life...
    • Trust Him to give you eternal life. 1 John 5:11 God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
To place your trust in Christ you may pray the following:

Jesus, I desire to know and follow your love and plan for my life. I admit that I have sinned and need your forgiveness. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. I surrender my life into your hands. Begin now to make me into the person you desire me to be.

If you prayed today to trust Christ, please let us know by contacting us!
